Services for Fred D. Young, 93, of Lubbock will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Ford Memorial Chapel at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Ballard officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Lamesa Cemetery under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors in Lubbock.
He died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003.
He was born Aug. 14, 1909, in Truby. He married Rosa Johanna Sawyer on Dec. 23, 1931, in Sawyer Flat. She died April 10, 1995. He had been a resident of Lubbock since 1965, moving from Bledsoe, where he farmed. He owned and operated Young's Rocks and Gems from 1965 until 1991. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Louis, on April 1, 1998.
Survivors include two sons, Weldon of Melbourne, Fla., and Edsel of Lubbock; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
