Maxine Coleman, 93, of Big Spring, died Sun, Nov 4, 2012, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Wed, Nov 7, 2012, at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel, with Rick Cunningham, minister of 14th and Main Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm Tue, Nov 6, 2012, at the funeral home.

Maxine was born Mar 28, 1919, to Samuel Edward and Stella Barbara Smith in Coahoma, TX.

She grew up in Coahoma, moved to Stanton, TX, for five years, and then to Big Spring. She graduated from Big Spring High School in 1936. Later, she became the office manager of Burrs Dept. Store.

In 1939, she married Carl A. Coleman.

After being a housewife and mother for several years, she went to work for the family business, Smith and Coleman Oil Co., as a bookkeeper. She was a member of 14th and Main Church of Christ, where she taught Bible classes for 20 years. She was a member of the Ladies Lions Auxiliary and The Women for Abilene Christian Auxiliary. Maxine was an excellent seamstress. She loved God, her family, friends, and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Kay Wilson, and Sue Lane and husband, Kenneth, all of Big Spring, and Gayle Butts and husband, Howard of Midland; seven grandchildren, Tony Lane and wife, Jenifer of Abilene, Wendi Jenkins and husband, Richard of Big Spring, D'Carlon Gomez and husband, Mark of Big Spring, Kenye Kay Tranum, Devin Butts and wife, Stori, Britton Butts, and Brennan Butts, all of Midland; eleven g-grandchildren; one g-g-grandchild; one sister, Natalie Peurifoy of Canyon; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Stella Smith; her husband, Carl A. Coleman; and a sister, Eadie Falkner.

The family suggests memorials be made to the 14th and Main Church of Christ Youth Group, 1401 Main St., Big Spring, TX 79720.
