Pauline Compton Wood, 93, of Big Spring,TX died on Wednesday, February 15, 2006, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 17, 2006 at Trinity Memorial Park Peace Chapel with her son, Dr. E.B. Compton, Jr., officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM.

She was born on October 8, 1912, in Pawhuska, Oklahoma and married Escol Burvis Compton on February 24, 1932 in Big Spring TX. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1980. She then married Milas R. Wood, on April 15, 1980. He died in 2002.

Pauline was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Child Study Club and Women's Forum, a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, and was the retired office manager of the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Commission of the US Department of Agriculture.

Survivors include her son, Dr. Escol B. "Bennie" Compton and wife, Janet of Wichita Falls; two granddaughters, Alicia Pruitt and husband, Steve of Wichita Falls and great grandson, Thomas Copelin of Plano and Stephanie and husband, John Farley and great grandson, Carson of Wake Forest, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, John Compton of San Antonio and one sister-in-law, Elisa Hubbard, who was such a special care-giver and loving companion who devoted years of comfort and assurance to Pauline.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, B.S. Hubbard, Jr. and Tommy Hubbard, and one sister, Elnora Hart.
