Louise Conley, 94, of Mesquite, formerly of Big Spring, died on Saturday, April 9, 2005, at 12:30 PM at the Christian Care Center in Mesquite.

She was born Mary Louise Petty on February 11, 1911 in Como, Hopkins County, Texas. She was the daughter of Hugh Carloss "Mann" Petty and Lucy Octavia Vickers Petty. Louise attended schools in Fort Stockton, Texas, Dawson, Texas, Roswell, New Mexico, San Angelo, Texas and McCamey, Texas. In McCamey, she was a violin teacher and it was there that she met a young high school English teacher who also played the piano and who agreed to accompany her in recitals. His name was Dannie Conley and he became her husband on May 14, 1930. After the wedding, they moved to Johnson City, Tennessee, where Dannie taught school. They moved to Big Spring in 1933, where they became loving and active members of the congregation of 14th and Main Church of Christ and remained so until they left Big Spring in December of 1989.

Louise was a member of the Big Spring Music Study Club in her early days in Big Spring. She was active in the forming of the Girl Scouts in Big Spring and was a teacher in the Adult Literacy program. She also volunteered at the Big Spring State Hospital and Scenic Mountain Medical Center. She was a long time volunteer with the World Bible School and only retired from that a short time before her death.? She also volunteered at the Christian Care Center with the quilting group. She was a long time member of a sewing club with friends from the church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Hubbard of Coppell, Texas and her son, Jim Conley and wife, Linda of Prescott, Arizona. Four grandchildren, Mike Hubbard and wife, Paula of Coppell, Richard Hubbard of Big Spring, John Conley and wife, Stephanie of Nashville, Tennesee, and Anne Israeloff of Boston, Massachusetts; five great grandchildren, Eric and Ryan Hubbard of Coppell, Sara and Matthew Conley of Nashville, Tennesee, and Max Israeloff of Boston, Massachusetts; her sister, Luna Ruth Tinker and three nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jane Taylor and her husband.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2005 at Trinity Memorial Park with Rick Cunningham, officiating.
