James "Andy" Coots, 66, of Big Spring, died Thursday, May 22, 2014 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Billy Guy, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born June 4, 1947 in Big Spring, Texas and married Ellen Faye Rutherford January 10, 1969 in Big Spring, Texas.

He was a lifelong resident of Big Spring. He served in the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps. Andy worked as a roustabout in the oil field for over 20 years and had owned and operated A & E Cleaners for seven years. He loved to fish and was very proud of his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Coots of Big Spring; one daughter, Becki Holt and husband, Mike of Stanton; one son, James Shannon Coots and fiance, Tina Harrell of Big Spring; and two grandsons, Chase Holt and girlfriend, Caitlyn Macias and Cody Holt and girlfriend, Brittany Blair all of Stanton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Oma Coots; and his mother-in-law, Edna Hughes.

The family suggests memorials to a veteran's organization of choice.
