*Obituary Edwin “Ed” Cox
Edwin Cox, 90, of Abilene, formerly of Coahoma, died on Wed, Apr 21, 2010, in an Abilene hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Sat, Apr 24, 2010 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Rev. Mark Winn, pastor of Sand Springs Baptist Church, officiating.

He was born on Nov 19, 1919, in Wilson, OK and married Avis Odell Woods on Jan 25, 1948 in Santa Anna, TX.

Edwin had worked as a drilling superintendent in the oil field before retiring. He was a member of the Sand Springs Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Avis Odell Cox of Abilene; three sons, Cary Driscoe Cox and wife, Norma of Cookville, Edwin Harwood Cox, Jr. and wife, Marlene of Lakeland, FL and Wayne Allen Cox of Arlington; two daughters, Judith Fay Wright and husband, Colton of Abilene and Sherri Ann Franklin and husband, Billy of Arlington; three grandsons, Byron Cox of Dallas, Chase Wright of Abilene and Logan Franklin of Arlington; three granddaughters, Melanie Guetierriz of San Antonio, Cassi Wright of San Angelo and Shelby Franklin of Arlington; and one brother, Morris Dean Cox of CA.

He was preceded in death by his father, Cary Babbit Cox; his mother, Elizabeth Cox; two sisters, Athalie Cox and Evelyn Hawkins and a brother, Samuel Howard Cox.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to to The Woods Family Scholarship Fund, 3170 Seabreeze Dr., May, TX 76857 or Sand Springs Baptist Church, 8517 N. Service Rd, Big Spring, TX 79720.
