Elzy Ellis Davis, 85, of Big Spring died November 24, 2021.
Visitation will be 9 AM until 9 PM with family receiving friends from 5 PM until 7 PM Friday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 3 PM Saturday with burial at Trinity Memorial Park.
Elzy was born on December 18, 1935 in Electra, TX to Joseph Philip Davis & Tessie Davis (Sansom).
He married Marcella Fay Osburn on June 22, 1957.
Elzy retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2001.
He is a veteran of US Navy; he was an Aerographer. He served from 1956 until 1965 in the Korean & Vietnam War. He served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt Ship. He was an award the Commendation Ribbon for combat on the USS Coral Sea in Southeast Asia.
Elzy was an avid coin & stamp collector as well as other things.
He never met a stranger and everyone loved him.
All animals took to him as well as people and he reciprocated.
Elzy is survived by 2 daughters: Dianna Lynn Heinis (Mark) of New Braunfels & Patricia Butts (Jimmy) of Big Spring; 7 grandchildren: Erin Beam (Dustin), Christina Wallace, Chad Heinis (Reina), Adam Heinis (Luna), Neisha Heinis, Randi Todd (Kyle) & Cortney Hooten (Cory), 8 great grandchildren & 3 on the way.
Elzy was preceded in death by his wife: Marcella Fay Davis, his son: Ricky Dean Davis, his parents: Joseph Philip & Tessie Davis, 1 brother & 2 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Howard Osburn, Chad Heinis, Adam Heinis, Dustin Beam, Kyle Todd, & Cory Hooten.
