Dorothy Granny Dot Melton, 94, of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away Saturday, October 29, 2011 at Hartland Nursing Center in Hobbs.

Graveside services will be 2:00 Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Andrews Old Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home. Mike Fowler, Jerry Fowler and Bobby Fowler all officiating.

Mrs. Melton was born June 8, 1917, in Stonewall, Oklahoma. She married Vernon Buddy Melton December 24, 1934 in Stonewall, Oklahoma. They were longtime Andrews residents until the late 1990s.

She loved serving in the Hospital Auxiliary Pink Ladies while in Andrews. She was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ and enjoyed teaching Bible class. She loved to paint and cook and she was a member of the Andrews Art Guild. She was also a very good match maker.

She was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Melton in 2000, her son, Evan Melton in 1968, Brother, Burnard Fowler and Sister, Theresa Benham.

She is survived by two brothers, R.J. Fowler of Jal, NM, Bill Fowler of Illinois and one grandson.
