Jose Garcia Valdez, Sr., 79, departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Lubbock, Texas, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Aug. 27, 1924 in Adkins, Texas to the late Benigo and Maria de Jesus Valdez. He married Gabriella Garcia in Mathis on March 17, 1947.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Santiago and Gilberto Valdez; two sons, Alfred and Joe Valdez, Jr.; and two grandsons, Joseph and David Valdez. He was a greatfather and husband and will be missed very much.
Those left to mourn his passing include his wife, Gabriella Valdez of Lubbock; five sons, Tony, Johnny, Lucio, Ben and Alejandro Valdez, all of Lubbock; five daughters, Elida Ramirez, Josie Belgara, Rose Mary Valdez, Gloria Valdez and Estella Sanchez, all of Lubbock; three brothers, Juan Valdez of Lubbock, Ruben Valdez of Corpus Christi, and Richard Valdez of Dallas/Ft. Worth; two sisters, Anita Liserio and Angelita Dominguez, both of Corpus Christi; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
