Hugh Stewart Anderson enlisted on June of 1862 and served until 1864. He was a member of Captain Lyon's Company, J.W. Smith's Battalion.

Hugh Anderson was a farmer. He moved to Motley County, Texas in 1897. He was a member of S.B. Maxey UCV Camp #860 at Matador, Texas.

The pension application shows he was born 1838.
