Bob was born Aug. 17, 1917, in Fort Worth to Carrie Bell and Robert H. Miller Sr. He was a 1937 graduate of Polytechnic High School, a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #124 and past member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. After World War II, Bob worked at Perkins Pattern Shop and various other shops before opening Miller Pattern Works in 1954 and retired in 2004. Of note, in 1961 Bob first repaired, then built a 26-piece pattern that was used to create the horse that today stands over the watering trough at the courthouse in downtown Fort Worth. As a lover of life, Bob rode his 1942 Harley, built and raced his 266-A hydroplane, "Bobcat," and spent many years flying the plane that he built, his Thorp T-18. His other hobbies included dancing, bowling, traveling and eating his wife's homemade pound cake.
