Joe Mac Underwood, 73 of Andrews, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews, Texas.

Joe Mac was born on January 29, 1937 to Loy Leo and Vera (Estelle) Underwood in Haskell County, Texas, near Knox City. He lived in Sipe Springs, Gorman, Hobbs (Texas) and O'Brien before moving to Andrews in 1948. He graduated from Andrews High School in 1956 and then went on to work in the oil field industry for the next 10 years. He married Grace Kipp on July 2, 1965 in Andrews, Texas. Shortly after, Joe Mac worked for Andrews County for 27 years before retiring in 1993.

Joe Mack was always a "Cowboy" at heart and had a deep passion for horses and roping. He loved spending time in the mountains, especially, Ruidoso, New Mexico. He stayed active, "always on the go" as his family would say. He always kept in touch with family and friends and never met a stranger.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loy L. Underwood and Vera (Reeves) Underwood; sister, Marjean Underwood.

He is survived by his wife, Grace, of the home; daughter, Sandra Underwood, of Andrews; brother, Brownie Underwood, of Andrews; sister, Janye Finch, of Gonzales and one beloved granddaughter, Alice Stokey, of Andrews.
