R.D. Anderson began his journey in life November 15, 1922 in Starke, Florida. He made his final journey September 27, 2011 in Midland, Texas. He is now celebrating in Heaven.
He was born to George and Jessie Mae Anderson. R.D. came to Texas on Christmas Eve 1946. In White Oak, Texas, he met and married the love of his life, Wilma Jean Miller; They were married December 22, 1947.To this marriage, one daughter was born in 1952. R.D. and Jean moved to West Texas in the early 1950s. He worked in the oil fields and started two successful businesses. He was co-owner of ATCO and then sold his part in that company; R.D. and Jean then started Anderson Base Company in 1967.He operated it until 1994 when he sold out and retired. He also raised and raced quarter horses from 1969 until 1996; He loved animals and seemed to have a special connection with them.
He was predeceased by both parents, two sisters, and seven brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Anderson; daughter Debbie Jones; sister-in-law Marie Cook; granddaughter Tonya Quezada and husband Jr.; grandson Jason Franklin of Odessa, great-granddaughter Baily Franklin and great-grandson Blane Franklin, both of Whitehouse, Texas, and great-grandson Rico Quezada of Midland, Texas.
The family will receive friends, Friday, September 30, 2011 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Senior Care for their care and compassion for R.D; We would also like to thank the nurses and staff on the 4th floor and Emergency Room at Midland Memorial Hospital.
