*OBITUARY NOLLAN RAY BECK
Nollan Ray Beck Sr., 90 of Calvin, Oklahoma passed away on May 20, 2014. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Nollan was born to James Furman Beck and Henrietta Snodgrass Beck on March 31, 1924. He grew up farming with his Dad and attending school at Shady Grove, Buffalo and Lamar, Oklahoma.
When he was a young man he was recruited to work at a saw mill in Oregon. He returned to Oklahoma and started working in the Oil Fields. He served his country for three years in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He spent 50 years, first as a driller and then as an oil production superintendent, working in Oklahoma, West Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana and Kentucky.
Nollan Married his beloved childhood sweetheart Elva Loveta Collins in 1949. They had two children; Jannette Loveta Beck and Nollan Ray Beck Jr. They were married 40 years. They lived in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. In 1961 Nollan moved his family to Andrews, Texas so they could worship with the South Side Church of Christ and attend School while he traveled with his work. He lived in Andrews until Elva passed away in 1993.
Nollan spent the last 20 years of his life living in Calvin, Oklahoma. He married Modean M. Ferren. They enjoyed spending time traveling and visiting Family. Nollan also enjoyed restoring a vintage car, working with wood and reading the Bible, newspapers and western stories. He liked animals and yard work.
Nollan was a faithful Christian. He was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Andrews, Texas and then the South Creek Church of Christ in Holdenville, Oklahoma. He loved his church family.
Nollan loved his family very much. He worked hard to take care of them and he was always a pillar of strength.
Nolan was preceded in death by his grandson; James Nollan Duncan, his son-in-law; Sammy Joe Duncan, his brothers; Billy Gene Beck, Lois Dean Beck and Hughes Doyle Beck, and his parents Henrietta Snodgrass Beck and James Furman Beck.
Nollan is survived by his beloved wife; Modean M. Ferren of Calvin, Oklahoma, his sister; Alice Smith of Holdenville, his brother Harlton Beck of Lamar, Oklahoma, his sister; Betharine Blalock and her husband Ken of Calvin, Oklahoma, his daughter Jannette Geers and her husband James and granddaughter Velma Duncan of Midwest City, his son; Nollan Ray Beck Jr. and his wife Deborah of Desoto, Texas, his granddaughter; Amie Beck Johnson and her husband Jason and great grandson Zachary Johnson, his granddaughter; Kimberly Beck Garrison and her husband Bryan Garrison of Ft. Worth, Texas, his grandson; Nathan Ross Beck and his wife Jocelyn Beck and great granddaughter Tristyn Beck of Ft. Worth, Texas, his daughter; Thresa Ferren Anderson and her husband Ken of Patton, Missouri, and his granddaughter Kim Paxson of Ft. Talson, Oklahoma, his grandson; Jonathon Martin of Calvin, Oklahoma, and great granddaughter; Mekayla and Madison of Shawnee, Oklahoma, granddaughter Anisha Simmons and her husband Chance of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and great grandson Landon and great granddaughters Kiley and Carter, his son; Joel Ferren and his wife Allison and grandson Noah and granddaughter Emma of Danville, Illinois, and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services for Nollan will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 22, 2014 at the Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at 4:00 PM Saturday May 24, 2014 at the Andrews County "West" Cemetery in Andrews, Texas. Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home of Holdenville, Oklahoma. Online Condolences can be made at www.phillipsfuneralservice.com.
