Ira Lee was born in Stratford, Texas on February 14, 1927 to Loyd and Willie Belle Brannan. He played basketball, boxed and played clarinet in school in Stratford. In Andrews, Ira Lee was a charter member of the Andrews Industrial Foundation, a Deacon and Sunday school teacher in the First Baptist Church and a strong, loving leader of his family.

In his later years, Ira Lee thoroughly enjoyed the activities and associations with his friends at the Andrews Senior Center, particularly during the dances, when he would sometimes play his harmonica with the band.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Neva; brother, W. D. Brannan; sister, Fern Yell; both his parents and step mother and his daughter-in-law, Polley Brannan.
