Jesse Vasquez Barrientes Sr. went to be with our Lord February 24, 2023, at his home in Hobbs, NM surrounded by his loving family. Jesse, 85, affectionally known as “Pappy” was born October 16, 1937, in Ballinger to Agapito and Eufemia Barrientes. Jesse enjoyed spending time fishing, boating, golfing, and hunting. He passed his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons, Joshua Lee Barrientes and Brian McBride, one great-great-granddaughter Amora Nicole Fabela, three brothers, and three sisters.
Jesse leaves behind his “forever love” Victoria, four sons, Jesse Barrientes, Jr., of Hobbs, NM, Agapito (Sherry) Barrientes, Elbert Barrientes, both of Seminole and Andy Barrientes of Hobbs, NM; three daughters, Belinda (Willie) Martinez, Cecilia (Paul) Ivy, both of Seminole and Mary Jane “MJ” (Greg) McBride of Hobbs, NM; 19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Joe Barrientes of Denver City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are under the direction of Chapel of Hope Funeral Home, Hobbs, NM. Online condolences may be made at www.chapelofhopefunerals.com A rosary will be held Thursday, March 2 at St. Helena Catholic Church at 4:00 pm. Funeral mass is at 10:00 am, Friday, March 3 at St. Helena Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Gaines County South Cemetery in Seminole.
