Former Matador Official Dies
Matador (Special) ~ W.L. McWiliams, 92, died Saturday at Universal Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Gossett, pastor and the Rev. Richard Waters of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at East Mound Cemetery in Matador under direction of Seigler Funeral Home.
Former mayor of Matador, McWilliams was also former county commissioner and served on the school board. He had lived in Lubbock for the past seven years.
Survivors include three sons, Joe Roscoe McWilliams of Arlington, Va, Ernest McWilliams of Dallas and Varner McWilliams of Lubbock; a daughter, Mrs. Jay Browning of Arlington; a brother, Jess Mc Williams of Tatum, N.M.; sisters, Mrs. G.W. Dalton of Plainview and Mrs. John Westerfield of Clifton; 10 grandchildren
