Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, Matador, for Bill Rushing on Monday, September 11 at 3 p.m., with Minister B.M. Litton, Memphis conducting the service assisted by Ernest Grizzard, minister of the Church of Christ, Wheeler.

Rushing died Saturday, September 9, at 7 p.m. in the Shamrock General Hospital after an illness of a week. He was born Jan. 28, 1926, in Matador. At the time of his death he was 24 years, 7 months and 11 days old.

He had made his home in Wheeler for the past two years after coming here from Matador where he had lived all of his life previously. He was with the PMA here.

Rushing was married to Dorothy Jean Casey, March 5, 1948, at Matador. He was baptised [sic] into the Church of Christ at Matador, at the age of 14. He worshipped [sic] regularly at the Wheeler Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; 18 months old daughter, Darlia Jeanette; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.I. Rushing, Matador; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Ivey, Abilene; Mrs. Annie Waggoner, Abilene; Mrs. Ruth Lee, post; four brothers, Leonard, Phillipine [sic] Islands; Albert, Hale Center, Elwood, Guatamala City, Central America; Bob, Paducah; and one half brother, Odell Latham, Estelline, and several nieces and nephews.
