Edward Shields (Edd) of Amarillo, passed away peacefully February 19, 2022 at Ussery Roan Texas State Veterans Home. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Cox-Rowley Funeral Home Chapel.

Edd was born April 20, 1944 in Seminole, Texas to Edward and Florence Shields. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He married the love of his life Mary Elizabeth Landureth (Betty) on December 23, 1967 in Midland, Texas. Edd worked in the oil field for many years, moving his family from the Permian Basin area to the Texas Panhandle in 1979 to follow the oil boom and raise his family in the small community of Canadian, Texas.

Following the oil bust in the late 1980s, Edd began driving cross county as an eighteen-wheeler truck driver for many years, several times taking his daughter with him on coast-to-coast trips. He enjoyed watching football with his two boys, cooking out (and eating), attending Bible study with his wife, fishing and just being with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother J.B. Shields of Seminole, Texas.

Left to cherish his memories is his wife Betty his daughter Jill Larson and husband Jason of Decatur, Arkansas; sons Bradley Shields and wife Holly of Colleyville, Texas and Brentley Shields of Amarillo. Four granddaughters Caitlyn and Madelyn Shields and Sara and Lauren Larson.
