CEDAR PARK - Leo Freeby, 59, died Thursday, March 30, 2006.
Vigil services will be at 4 p.m. today in Beck Funeral Home. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Umbarger. The rite of committal will follow in St. Mary's Church Cemetery. Arrangements are by Beck Funeral Home of Cedar Park and Lindley-Robertson-Holt Funeral Home of Navasota.
He was born March 4, 1947, in Haskell County, the son of Henry Edward and Dorinda Chavez Freeby. A graduate of Weinert High School and Commonwealth Institute of Funeral Service, he was a credit manager for Ford Motor Credit in Austin.
He married Catherine Westhoff on April 17, 1971, in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Umbarger. They made their home in Houston, where he worked as a funeral director for SCI at Waltrip and Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Homes.
He changed career paths and began working in the automotive finance business with GMAC in 1980. He began working at Primus, a division of Ford Motor Credit, which took him to Kansas City and later to Austin.
Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Catherine Westoff Freeby of Cedar Park; two sons, Capt. Jason Freeby, USMC, San Diego and Shawn Freeby and wife Jaime of Amarillo; his mother and stepfather, Dora and Richard Freeby of Haskell; sisters, Sissy Gragg and husband Gary and Dorethy Harrison and husband Rob, all of Wichita Falls; a brother, Henry "Eddie" Freeby Jr. of DFW metroplex; sisters-in-law, Rita Artho of Amarillo, Alice Allen and husband A.B. of Brownsfield, Helen Schwertner of Lubbock, Margaret Giles and husband Hubert of Justin and Glayds Meyers and husband Vince of Canyon; a great number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, godchildren and many other relatives and a great number of friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Freeby, Shawn Freeby, Vince Meyer, Rob Harrison, Hubert Giles, Robbie Ross, Tim Dudley and Lynn Gray.
