Umbarger man found dead in house
Umbarger - Harold John Batenhorst, 26, of Umbarger, was found dead yesterday at his home.
Randall County Sheriff Cliff Longest said last night the cause of death had not been determined, but that an autopsy would be conducted today. There was no sign of foul play, he said.
Rosary for Batenhorst will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today at Schooler-Gordon Chapel in Canyon. Mass will be read at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Unbarger with Father James Sonderman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Umbarger.
Mr. Batenhorst was born in Canyon and was a farmer and stockman. He was a longtime resident of Umbarger. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Randall county Farm Bureau and the Umbarger Volunteer Fire Department.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Batenhorst of Umbarger; three brothers, Donald and Gerald, both of Amarillo, and Roger of the home; three sisters, Mrs. Diana Stork of Sunray, Mrs. Kathleen Callarman of Bowling Green, Ohio, and Brenda of the home.
