Carrel Pipes, 85, of Odessa died Sunday, March 8, 1998, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.

He was born July 31, 1912, in Johnson County.

Carrel married Wilma Simons on Aug. 10, 1935, in Covington. They moved to Andrews in 1935. They moved to Los Angeles in 1941 from Andrews. He worked for Douglas Aircraft. They moved back to Andrews in 1947.

He worked for the City of Andrews. He also worked for El Paso Natural Gas at the Fullerton Plant in Frankel City in 1951. He retired as utility supervisor in 1977.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Andrews, the senior citizens center and the "Coffee Club." He and his wife moved to Odessa in 1997.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Glenn of Odessa; a sister, Faye Cryer of Cleburne; two grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one great-stepgrandchild.

Services for Wilma Pipes of Eunice, New Mexico, formerly of Andrews, will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 31, 2009 in McNett Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Glenn Pipes, Rev. Charlie Simons and Rev. Hank Simons officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery under the direction of McNett Funeral Home.

Wilma passed away in Midland Saturday, March 28, 2009. She was born on December 18, 1913 in Hamilton, Texas. She married Carrel Pipes on August 10, 1935 in Covington, Texas. She was a home maker and a member of the First Baptist Church.

Survivors include son Glenn Pipes and wife Terri, Eunice, NM, three grandaughters and four great grandchildren.
