Paul "Red" Fields, 85, of Big Spring, died on Friday, April 3, 2009, in a local nursing home. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Peace Chapel at Trinity Memorial Park with Doug Shelley, chaplain with Crossroads Hospice, officiating.

He was born on October 14, 1923, in Big Spring, Texas and married Ann Marie Brydon on March 13, 1958 in Seattle, Washington. She preceded him in death on February 5, 2009.

Red and his late wife came to Big Spring in 1964. He was a truck driver most of his life until retiring. He was a member of the Church of God and had served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include four daughters, Paula Carey and husband, Tommy of Big Spring, Patricia Sally of Escondido, California, Shelia Smith of Camino Island, Washington and Sandra Fields of San Diego, California; three sisters, Goldie Clawson of Big Spring, Lois Stice of Dallas, and Gladine Cate of Big Spring; six grandchildren including Jeffery Allen Carey of Big Spring and six great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Leslie Ann Carey and eight brothers and sisters.

The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, %Carolyn Brooks, P.O. Box 2121, Big Spring, Texas 79721-2121.
