"A Celebration of Life" funeral service will be celebrated for Jose Gonzales, Sr., aka Chepo, age 75 of Lamesa, Texas on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Templo Elim Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home of Lamesa, Texas.

Viewing will be held Friday, June 1, 2018 starting at 11:00 a.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.

Jose took his last breath in his Home just as he wanted, on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 in Lamesa. He was born on June 5, 1942 in O'Donnell, TX. and lived in Lamesa all his life. Jose married Delia Balderas on January 1, 1956 in Lamesa, TX.

Jose "Chepo" was preceded in death by his Parents, Gregorio and Celestina Gonzales; his son, Louis Gonzales; his Granddaughter, Naomi Ann Garza; his brothers, Frank Gonzales, Antonio Gonzales and Pete Gonzales; his sisters, Janie Garcia and Natalia Villanueva.

Jose "Chepo" was a Business Cement Concrete Contractor for over 50 years, had many friends and was known to teach many the trade if they were willing to work. He never met a stranger and was Always making people laugh. He was an inspiration to all of his family with setting an example with his Strong Work Ethic and LOVE for Family. Dad showed much unconditional Love to his 7 Children, 17 Grandchildren and 28 Great Grandchildren and his 1 Great Great Grandson. Odds were always against him even when he married at the tender age of 13 years old. His children called him "Superman" as God helped him made the Impossible, "POSSIBLE" with all of his challenges in Life.

Jose "Chepo" is survived by his amazing wife of 62 years, Delia Balderas Gonzales of Lamesa, Texas and Children, Jose Gonzales III (Maria), of Costa Rica, Diane Zertuche of Allen, TX., Mary Lou Garza (Santos) of Rockwall, TX., Christella Acosta of Irving, TX., Nancy Valderrama (Jimmy) of Allen, TX. and Michael Gonzales of Plano, TX.; his brother, Jessie Gonzales of Austin, TX.; his sisters, Mary Pecina of San Angelo, TX., Cruz Maria Gonzales of Austin, TX., Mary Ann Reyes of Austin, TX., Estella Regalado of Kyle, TX.

Pallbearers will be his 6 Grandsons, Robert Solis, Jr., Jose Carlos Gonzales, Santos Garza, Jr., Nathan Acosta, Christopher Acosta and Kolbie Gonzales.
Honorary Pallbearers, Beckett Harris and Isaiah Benavidez.
