Earl Griffin, 68, of Big Spring died Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Scenic Mountain Medical Center. Funeral Services will be at 4:00 PM Wednesday at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Tuesday at Myers & Smith Funeral Home.

He was born November 9, 1942, in Durham, North Carolina. He came to Howard County 35 years ago from England and was stationed at Webb Air Force Base. He served 16 years in the Air Force following 2 years in the army. He loved to watch John Wayne, old movies, and Mash. He loved classical and Celtic music, bagpipes. He loved animals and loved to read scripture daily. In his younger days, he loved to draw, fish, and camp. His #1 love was his family, his kids, and his grandchildren. Whenever he addressed any of his daughters, it was Hello Darling or Shug.

He is survived by four daughters: Toni Collins and her husband David, Vickie Matthews and her husband Gary, Tammy Garrison and her husband Bradley, and Shanna Smith and her husband John, all of Big Spring; one brother: Dink Griffin of Ronoak Rapids, North Carolina; eight granddaughters: Katrina Stevens, Brittany Griffin, Meagan Rieger, Channel Griffin, Emily Matthews, Skylar Smith, Madison Smith, and Torah Smith; and one great grandson: Dontavion Stevens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son: Elvin Griffin; two brothers: Clifton and Bobby Griffin; and two sisters: Minnie Ruth Daniels and Joyce Griffith. Pallbearers will be David Collins, Gary Matthews, Bradley Garrison, Issac Wilburn, Chris Rieger, and Taylor Parrish. Honorary Pallbearers will be John Smith, Bill Barber, Wayne Hodnett, Anthony Green, Michael Martin, and Dontavion Stevens. Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
