Homer Howard,
Martin County

Homer Howard, Jr., 43, Tarzan community resident and a member of the Martin County School Board, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday in a Lamesa hospital after a short illness.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Nalley-Pickle Rosewood Chapel, with Bill Gipson, West Highway 90 Church of Christ, officiating, assisted by Thomas McIntyre, Tarzan Church of Christ. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born Oct. 22, 1924, in Jones County and came to Martin County in 1937. He farmed in the Tarzan community and was a member of the Grady Independent School District Board of Education for several years. He was also a member of the Martin County Equalization Board.

A veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Tarzan Church of Christ. Mr. Howard married Miss Maxine Mims, Nov. 7, 1942, in Big Spring.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Johnny Lynn Howard, Danny Mack Howard, Billy Jay Howard, Homer Don Howard, all of Tarzan; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Howard Sr., Big Spring; one sister, Mrs. L. V. Welch, Tarzan; and one granddaughter.
