Melvin Jarrell, 93, passed from this life Saturday, August 28, 2021.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rev. Doug Shelley, pastor of East Side Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM To 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home.
He was born in Jewett, Texas, April 27, 1928, to Willburn and Bessie (Hardy) Jarrell.
He married Barbara Whitsitt September 25, 1981.
Melvin worked in the oil field from 1949 until he retired in 1990.
He loved the outdoors and always had a beautiful and productive garden.
He loved watching things grow and kept his yard up until age 93.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Royce Jarrell and wife, Lori, and Dewayne Jarrell; one son-in-law, Willie Harris; one sister, Vergie Thedford and husband, Charles; three step-daughters, Deborah Barree, Patricia Snowden and husband, Gary, and Linda Lanier and husband, Joe; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Thresa Harris; one brother, Woodrow Jarrell; and one step-son, Clarence Whitsitt, Jr.
The family suggests memorials to Interim Hospice, 1900 Gregg St., Big Spring, TX 79720.
