Garland T. Land died on Friday, April 18, 2008 in Big Spring, Texas. He was 91 years old. He was born on February 19, 1917, in Mitchell County, Texas.

He was raised on a farm and loved the land and farming.

He married Ruth Lynch in 1949 in Roscoe, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 29, 1986.
He was a veteran of World War II having proudly served in the United States Army in Germany.
Garland and Ruth moved to Big Spring, Texas in 1954 from Loraine, Texas. He retired as an assistant engineer with Pioneer Natural Gas Company in 1982, after 27 years of service.
He was a member of the International Order of Odd Fellows and the American Legion.

Garland was a kind and loving man who especially enjoyed his family. He loved playing shuffle board and was a champion table shuffle board player. He was an avid bird hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Terry And Charles Ingram of Big Spring and Jolene and Allan Frank of Austin, two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas Land and Jeff and Charlene Land all of Big Spring; two sisters, Auta Doss of Arlington and Lonice Hall of Snyder; 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother; three sisters; and a grandson.
