Buddy was a County Agent for thirty three years, serving in Moore County, Mitchell County, Lamb County and Hall County. Buddy loved being a County Extension Agent, working with 4-Hr's, farmers and ranchers. When he retired in 1990, he began teaching Agriculture at Lakeview High School, which he pursued for eight years. In 1991, he was elected Hall County Commissioner where he served for 20 years. His greatest joy was giving back to others. Buddy was president of the Caprock Cruisers motor home club of FMCA and a member of Chaparral Sam's RV group. Buddy and Beverly enjoyed RVing and making wonderful friends in both groups. They loved cruising after retiring from motor homing.

He was a member of the First Methodist Church of Big Spring and a member of the Epworth Sunday School class. He was lay delegate to the Northwest Texas Conference for 25 years. He raised sheep and goats as a hobby. He loved going to the goat and sheep sale in San Angelo. One of his greatest joys was his coffee group.
