Orlando, Florida- Alton Winston Short, Jr, 56, died Thursday, November 25, 2010, after a
yearlong battle with leukemia. A memorial
service will be in early April 2011 in
Hereford, Texas. Arrangements are by Direct
Cremation Service.
Winston was born October 21, 1954. He grew
up in Hereford and played football there and
for West Texas State University in Canyon,
Texas.
Winston was employed for 12 years by Rollins
Collage in Winter Park as athletic turf
manager and worked in radio advertisement
sales in Amarillo, Texas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Anna Conklin and Noble Willier, both of Hereford, Texas.
Survivors include two children, Eric Short of Winter Park and Katie Short of Amarillo; his
mother, Peggy Fitzgerald of Hereford; his father, Alton Winston Short, Sr of Amarillo; Sister, Greta Short of Amarillo; a brother,
Chad Fitzgerald of Cedar Hill; his grandfather, Ben Conklin of Hereford; and his
fiancee, Denise Perry.
