Johnny Moore, 74, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, March 9, 2011 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday at Myers & Smith Chapel with Rev. Walter McCall, pastor of Vincent Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

Johnny was born September 1, 1936 in Big Spring to Frances and Houston Moore. He attended school at Vincent and Coahoma. He grew up on T. L. Griffin and E. T. O'Daniel Ranches.

He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army in an Airborne Unit.

He worked as an auto technician and service manager at Jack Lewis Buick & Cadillac and Shroyer Oldsmobile GMC Dealerships. He also taught auto mechanics at Midland College until retirement. He had been a reserve officer with the Big Spring Police Department.

Johnny is survived by his wife Lallye Moore of Big Spring; three sons: Johnny Moore, Jr., and his wife Debbie of Big Spring, Gregg Moore and his wife Kara of Midland and Don Moore and his wife Robin of Lubbock; three step-daughters: Regina Collins and her husband David, Vickie Matthews and her husband Gary and Tammy Garrison and her husband Bradley all of Big Spring and an adoptive daughter Shanna Smith and her husband John and children; one sister: Macquiline Shortes of Big Spring; 19 grandchildren and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother Margaret Moore; one brother Elick Dale Moore, a sister Anita Faye Moore and also a step-son Elvin Michael Griffin.

Pallbearers will be Monty McGuire, Kenneth Scott, David Collins, Gary Matthews, Bradley Garrison and Gilbert Martinez. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Mitchell, Wayne Hodnett and Cesar Rodriquez.

Arrangements are by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
