Funeral services for Isaak Goertzen, age 77 of Seminole, Texas, will be held Saturday, January 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with Pastor Isaak Fehr officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mr. Goertzen was born in Mexico to Susana (Giesbrecht) and Franz Goertzen on October 17, 1946. He married Katharina Knelsen in Mexico on October 1, 1967. He worked as a truck driver for over forty years. He enjoyed working on old tractors, fishing, and doing word search and other puzzles.
Isaak Goertzen passed away at Seminole Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, one brother, three sisters, and two great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Katharina Goertzen of Seminole; four sons, David Goertzen and wife Helena, Frank Goertzen, and Johnny Goertzen and wife Mary, all of Seminole, and Jake Goertzen and wife Sara of Lubbock, Texas; three daughters, Susan Guenther and husband Henry, and Helen Reimer and husband Abe, both of Seminole, and Maria Sawatzky and husband Peter of Nebraska; four brothers, David Goertzen and wife Justina, and Frank Goertzen, both of Mexico, Peter Goertzen and wife Helena, and John Goertzen and wife Aganetha, both of Seminole; four sisters, Susan Heide of Seminole, Anna Wiebe, Elizabeth Peters and husband Peter, and Eva Thiessen and husband Heinrich, all of Mexico; 20 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
