Graveside services for Lorenzo Mendoza, Jr., age 61, will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Gaines County Cemetery with Pastor Gil Ramirez officiating. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home. The following obituary has been written by family members to express their loss.
Lorenzo Mendoza, Jr. was called home by the Lord on February 25, 2024 in Rowlett, Texas. He was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico on December 14, 1962 to Dolores Ornelas and Lorenzo Mendoza, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Javier Ornelas.
Despite being a right arm amputee, Lorenzo was known for always being the hardest-working man in the room. He never let it slow him down or stop him from doing anything and everything. He never met a stranger, and his positivity would lift up everyone in the room. If you knew Lorenzo, you wouldn't forget him.
Lorenzo is survived by his daughter, Carmen Mia Mendoza of Wylie, Texas. She was the light of his life. He dedicated his time to raising her, spending countless hours helping her with schoolwork and going on father/daughter vacations to visit family. Their father and daughter bond was like no other. He instilled strong values, morals, and beliefs in her, and taught her life skills that will guide her through her coming years. He will be deeply missed.
Lorenzo is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Anthony and Teresa Hemphill of Seminole, Texas; his nephew, Christopher Hemphill of Seminole; his niece, Jamie; his brothers, Rene Lujan and James Ornelas of Roswell, New Mexico; first cousins, Diana, Debbie, and Delma of California; his extended family who were at his side during his last hours and were like brothers– John Smith, Joe Murphy, and Bobby Haney; and many more relatives who loved him dearly.
