Thomas Hardy Romine, 84, of Big Spring, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Rick Cunningham, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.

Thomas was born January 16, 1931 in Dawson County, Texas.

He was a hard working rancher and cotton farmer in the West Texas area for the majority of his life.

He traveled thousands of miles all over the country pursuing his passion for calf and team roping at rodeos.

Thomas was drafted into the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, and when he was honorably discharged he began working at the Reynolds Cattle Company, where he met his wife, Lucille. They married September 5, 1954 in Clayton, New Mexico. They had two sons, Tommy Lynn Romine and Larry Romine.

Thomas passed on his legacy of farming, ranching and rodeo down to them with Larry still farming in Martin County. He always was willing to teach his children and grandchildren the key and most important points of what hard work and dedication meant, because that was what was required to make a living doing what he did.

Thomas was a God fearing man, and led his life in such a way to show it. He was baptized at the age of 67 years old.

Being a man of few words, when Thomas spoke, you listened, because what he said was usually needed and meant to be said.

He is survived by one son, Larry Romine and wife, Vietia of Stanton; three grandchildren, Orin Romine and wife, Jennifer, Sheila Romine and Rachel Romine all of Stanton; one great-grandchild, Kelton Romine; and two brothers, Hershel Romine and wife, Lou Ellen of Gravette, Arkansas and Gary Romine and wife, Christy of Big Spring. He is also survived Carol Ann Gonzales, Kenny Casbeer, Romelia Flores and Fabian Ontiveros, who took care of him and became part of the family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille; his parents, John Thomas Romine and Myrtle Hudson Romine; a son, Lynn Romine; and a brother, Jacky Romine.

Pallbearers will be Gary Romine, Larry Eaton, Jacky Romine, Orin Romine, Clinton Senn and Bill Romine.

The family suggests memorials to the Cherokee Home for Children, P. O. Box 295, Cherokee, Texas 76832.

Arrangements under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Big Spring. Online condolences may be made at: www.npwelch.com
