David Hilton Leifeste departed from this life on August 31, 2016, surrounded by his family.

David was born to Maurice and Beth Leifeste on June 23, 1954, in San Marcos, Texas. He was most recently a resident of New Braunfels but previously lived in Mason, Waco and Dallas, Texas.

David was preceded in death by his father, Maurice Leifeste and his grandparents, Hilton and Marie Leifeste and Lawrence and Bonnie Reardon of Mason, Texas and his beloved dogs, Izzy and Bart. David is survived by his mother, Beth Alm and her husband, David C. Alm of Art, Texas, his brother Randy Leifeste and his wife, Jody of San Marcos, his brother Brian Leifeste and his wife, Sallie of New Braunfels, his aunt, Marian Leifeste of Mason, Texas, as well as his beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and his friend, Jim Wall, of Waco, Texas.

David was a 1972 graduate of New Braunfels High School and a proud member of the Mighty Unicorn Marching Band. He had a successful career in information technology and telecommunications. He also enjoyed working for the Waco Public Library in his retirement. David will be remembered by his family and friends for his many artistic talents with a multitude of materials, from pen and paper to stained glass to chandeliers and food. He saw beauty in diversity and the eclectic, whether it be art, movies or people. He crafted delicious cheesecakes and had an eye for collecting unique treasures. He loved to travel and reminisce about his favorite trip to England with his mother. He also loved his blue Mini Cooper and his cowboy hat.The Leifeste family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Vista Village for their love and care of David, as well as Jimmy Castillo of Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and the nurses and physicians at Resolute Health. We will all miss his phone calls and visits spent laughing with him, but are comforted that we will see him again in Our Father's house. Memorial services are scheduled for 4:00pm on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Northpoint Church, 1215A Industrial Drive in New Braunfels. The family asks that in lieu of flowers or plants, memorial donations may be made to Northpoint Church or the Humane Society of the New Braunfels Area. Please visit our website at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.com and select our New Braunfels location, then select the name of your loved one to leave a message of condolence.
