Raymond Lee Swafford, 64, of Abilene, formerly of Big Spring, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family on April 30, 2018. There will be a Celebration of his life at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 3rd, at Myers & Smith Chapel in Big Spring with Chad Mitchell and Mark Umstot, officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park.

He was born December 31, 1953 in Big Spring, Texas. He was a resident of Big Spring most of his life and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He later resided in Midland and recently relocated to Abilene. He was employed by Superod in Big Spring. Raymond lived life to the fullest. It was not uncommon to find him picking away at his guitar, singing his favorite songs and making jokes with his friends. He loved every second he spent with his family, but above all, Raymond loved his Savior.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy Swafford of Abilene; his son, Cash Rainer and his wife Whitney of Gunter; and three daughters, Mitzi Umstot and her husband Mark of Lubbock, Mindi Lambert and her husband John of Pflugerville and Tracy Barnett of San Angelo; his mother, Neoma J. Clanton of Big Spring; two brothers, Bill Swafford and his wife Jane of Coahoma and Larry Swafford and his wife Jennan of Big Spring. He was loved tremendously by ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his late wife Janie Swafford, his daughter Cheyenne Rainer, his sister Ruth Graham and his father Vernon Swafford.

Following the ceremony, the family will receive visitors at the Big Spring Country Club at 2401 Driver Road.

The family would like to thank Dr. John Mathews and his staff, as well as the nurses at Medical City Dallas Cancer Unit, for their wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: The American Cancer Society, 2438 Industrial #143, Abilene, Texas 79605.

Pallbearers will be Bill Swafford, Larry Swafford, Don Hopson, Pete Robinson, Scott Emerson and Russ Rutledge.
