Graveside services for John Eugene Howey, 73, of Big Spring and formerly of Marshall, Arkansas, were held on Friday, October 22, 2010, at 10:00 a.m., at Lamesa Memorial Park Church with Melba Napper officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Branon Funeral Home in Lamesa.
John died on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Big Spring. He was born on July 4, 1937 in Sand Springs, Okla. to Hazel (Cypress) and John Thomas Howey. He married Ivera Banta on September 12, 1975 in Lovington, N.M. They were married for 31 years. She preceded him in death in December of 2006.
John served in the United States Navy. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Jarrett of Lamesa; grandchildren, Jacklyn Taylor and husband, Ricky, of El Paso and Tiffany Jarrett of Lamesa; and a sister, Vivian Ann Ross of Leavenworth, Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home, Big Spring, TX 79720.
