June 12, 1963-October 10, 2022
Our Beloved Mother, Daughter, Sister, & Aunt
*Obituary
Melanie Lynne Stewart, of San Antonio, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2022 at the age of 59 years. She was born on June 12, 1963 in San Antonio to her military father William Clem Stewart and mother Betty Lou Floyd Stewart.
Mary was a gifted student and graduated from John Jay High School in San Antonio in 1981. She then began a long career in bookkeeping and accounting for several companies in San Antonio. She first followed in her mother's footsteps to employment at the produce terminal market before moving on, and ending with many years of service in the auto body repair business.
Often with her mother, Melanie enjoyed many activities such as bingo, darts, bowling, and family game times. Like the rest of her family, she was a spirited competitor, and she excelled at all of these. She was a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary #579, VFW Auxiliary #9174, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.
Overjoyed and surprised at becoming a mother late in life, she was dedicated to her daughters, as she was to all her family and longtime friends.
She was a woman of faith throughout her life, and was pursuing a deeper relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Melanie was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Clem and Betty, and by her grandparents, Paul R. and Velma Stewart, and Howard and Lucille Floyd.
She is survived by her daughters Caley Stewart-Porter, of San Antonio, and Sara Stewart-Porter, of Amherst, Massachusetts, and by her brothers Paul (Sylvia) of San Antonio, and Mark, of Georgia, and her nieces and nephews Candace, Ashley, Patrick, and Grant.
Visitation will begin on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 9:00 a.m., and Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at Ratliff Funeral Home in Seagraves, TX. Interment will follow at the Gaines County Cemetery in Seagraves. For those wishing to give a memorial gift in memory of Melanie, it can be sent in care/of Ratliff Funeral Home, 312 12th Street, Seagraves, TX 79359.
