Eugene Aloysius Grabber, 77, of Amarillo died Sunday, May 9, 2010.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Brooks Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Amarillo with Monsignor Joseph Tash, pastor, celebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Umbarger by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon
Eugene was born Oct. 15, 1932, in St. Francis to Frank and Clara Grabber. He studied at Holy Cross Abbey in Canon City, Colo., from 1952 until 1957, then went into the Air Force. He was honorably discharged holding the rank of basic airman/control tower specialist. He was employed by the Post Office in Canyon for many years.
Eugene graduated from West Texas State University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in business/accounting and was a member of Alpha Chi Honor Society. After graduation from WT his work led him to live in several states, and he spent many years in Holland with his wife, Sarah. Eugene was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church since returning to the Panhandle in 2003 and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years.
His family would like to thank the staff at The Arbors Nursing Home for their outstanding care and BSA Hospice for their considerate service.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Henry Grabber; his son, David Grabber; and his wife, Sarah Brickle Grabber.

Survivors include his daughter, Becky Long of Arlington; three grandchildren, Christopher Long, Emily Long and Anthony Grabber, all of Arlington; one great-grandchild, Dawson Long of Arlington; three sisters, Lillian Friemel of Umbarger, Bernice Grabber-Tintes of Belgrade, Minn., and Sister Teresa Grabber of San Antonio; three brothers, John Grabber, Bernard Grabber and Ed Grabber, all of Umbarger; and dozens of nieces and nephews
