*Obituary
Bobby Wayne Blevins passed away on the morning of January 18, 2024, under the loving and compassionate care of the nursing staff at Longleaf BeeCaves Memory Center. Born on January 26, 1944, to Ed and Lavonia Blevins in Marion, VA, alongside his twin brother Buddy. Bob and Bud formed an inseparable force of nature. Together, they faced the challenges of growing up without a father, supporting each other every day throughout their entire lives.
Bobby was an avid golfer and a member of Barton Creek CC for over 30 years. He was a dedicated sports enthusiast, religiously studying the sports page and engaging in passionate conversations about football. He was a loyal fan of the Texas Longhorns and will be remembered for waving the Hook’em Horns sign to everyone who passed by. Bobby played football in high school and college, later coaching high school football before entering the business world of sales. His legendary career included National Sales Manager of Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, President of Coronado Publishers, President of Holt Rinehart Winston, President of Barrett Kendall Publishing, National Sales Manager for Voyager Learning, and President of iStation before retiring in January 2014.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bobby was a mentor, coach, and friend to everyone he met. He was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Bobby is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Sandra Stucker Blevins, his sons Robert (Spike) Blevins (Karen) and Christopher Blevins (Jennifer), along with 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. His twin brother Buddy Blevins resides in Marion, VA.
Preceding him in death are his father Edward Wayne Blevins (1909-1944), his mother Lavonia Blevins (1910-2002), both of Marion, VA, and his older brother Charles Blevins (1936-2023) of Louisville, KY.
Following cremation, Bobby will be laid to rest in Marion, VA.
A Celebration of Life is planned in Austin, TX on February 4, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00pm CT at the family home.
