October 22, 1973 - November 8, 2023
*Obituary
Joshua Owen Delozier was born at Ft. Riley, near Manhattan, Kansas on October 22, 1973. He passed away on November 8, 2023, at his home in Nolanville, TX surrounded by family. He is survived by his parents, Gary and Kathleen Delozier and brothers (Matthew, Christopher, and Patrick) as well as his wife and child.
Josh was best known for his love of Notre Dame football and all things Irish. His favorite color was green and St. Patrick’s day was his favorite day of the year. Christmas was a close second as Josh enjoyed competing with the Griswold’s for the most lawn decorations. Josh’s love of yard decorations expanded to include other holidays as well.
Over the past decade, however, Josh battled a number of illnesses due to hemochromatosis, a rare blood disorder. He received the most generous gift of a heart and liver transplant on June 22, 2012, giving his family many more years of life with him. Josh used this extra time by giving back to his community and neighbors. He spoke for groups regarding the importance of Organ Donation and how thankful he was to receive such a precious gift. When he wasn’t speaking, or watching Notre Dame football, he was sure to be found in his garage working on some project for someone. Josh loved when the neighborhood kids would come to the garage saying, “Mr. Josh, can you pump up my bike? Or Mr. Josh, can you fix my such and such?”
Josh could always be found around the kids at family gatherings as well. He cherished the title of “Uncle Joshie” and left behind several nieces and nephews: Nathanael, Haley, Mason, Nolan, Stella, Liam, Keira, Elaine, Daphne, Scarlet, Gregory, Cheyanne, and Robby.
However, Dad was the title he was the most grateful for. Josh married the love of his life, Sarah Schannep, on March 17, 2007 and became “dad” to her son, Christian Turnbull. Josh often said as his health was declining, “Of all the things I’ve lost, at least I will never lose being a dad.” Fatherhood was a gift for which he was forever grateful.
