*Obituary
Gaylen Burl Crowley, 90, passed away of natural causes on June 24, 2020, in Anna, Texas.

Gaylen was a devoted husband and beloved father, grandfather to six granddaughters,

eleven great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Gaylen was born September 5, 1929, in Grapevine, Texas, the youngest child of Edna

Bryant Crowley and James Book Crowley. He grew up in Grapevine, and in his youth he

enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening, all of which became lifelong activities. He was a

football and track athlete, and served his country in the United States Army. Gaylen and his

beloved wife, Rose Marie Crowley, married on December 29, 1947. He worked hard his

entire life to provide for his family. Gaylen loved a good debate and had a wonderful sense

of humor, often saying that his day wouldn’t be complete until he had made Rose laugh.

Gaylen enjoyed spending time at the horse races and traveling across the United States

with Rose in their travel trailer. During the final years of his life, he lived with his son David

and granddaughter Kim in Anna, where he spent time outside enjoying the weather and

often ending the day with a totty.

Gaylen was preceded in death by his wife, Rose, son Gaylen, Jr., parents, Edna and James,

siblings, James Thomas Crowley, Lois Long, Beulah “Boots” Blagg, J.B. Crowley, and Vera

Scruggs, as well as daughter-in-law, Becky. Gaylen will be forever remembered by three of

his children, David, of Anna, Debra and husband Randy Testerman, of Denton, and Sharon

and husband Keith Appleton, of Denton, as well as his many grandchildren, nieces,

nephews, cousins, and extended family members, not to mention his beloved roommate

and pet cat, Tinkerbell.

Gaylen will join Rose along with immediate family at Grapevine Cemetery. Due to the

current pandemic, a Celebration of Life gathering will be planned at a later date to

commemorate his life with family and friends.

In remembrance of Gaylen’s compassion for his family members, the family asks that in

lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Spina Bifida Association in honor of

Gaylen and Rose’s son, Gaylen, Jr, or to the American Heart Association in honor of Rose.
