*Obituary
Rodney Frank Thomas was born July 2nd, 1958 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Harry A. Thomas Jr. and Carol Munding Thomas. He passed away April 23, 2021 in Ft. Worth, Texas after having a massive stroke.

Rod graduated from Granger High in 1977 and then joined the Marine Corps Reserves. Looking quite dashing in his dress blues, he served for four years - making Sergeant and training for a short time in Norway.

Rod married Jeanette Hendricks on June 3, 1989 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They eventually moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where they had their only son, Trent. They made a very happy trio.

Always interested in civil engineering, he landed a job with Dowdy Land Surveyors in Ft. Worth, Texas where he eventually became Head of the Drafting Department

Rod had many hobbies. He loved nothing more than hitting the links with Jeanette or any of his many golfing buddies. He really enjoyed making a long weekend out of playing a new golf course and then complained about how he played! He was proud of breaking 80 several times.

Rod and Jeanette took up West Coast Swing dancing. He really enjoyed improving over the years by taking classes and practicing as much as he could. They would participate in social dances. This led to making many friends who they both cherished.

He had a real soft spot for any animal but especially loved his cats. His girl, Titleist is screaming in the kitchen for breakfast because we don’t get up at the crack of dawn to feed her like her papa did.

Rod was an intellectually curious person. He was an avid reader and loved to listen to a variety of podcasts. He also never met a map that he didn’t explore. (He got this from his mom!)

Rod is preceded in death by his father, aunts and uncles, and several dear friends. He is survived by his wife Jeanette and son Trent, mother Carol Thomas, sister Pamela Thomas (Dick Todd), brother Sonny Thomas (Rhonda), sister Rebecca Roper (Artem Kakadiy) and many cherished nieces, nephews and other family members including his dear Aunt Bev and Uncle Larry. He is also survived by many friends.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and nurses at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth for caring for Rod.

Due to the pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held first in Ft. Worth and later in Salt Lake City when it is safe to do so.
