Vaner Charles Smith, 73, of Richardson, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2021.
Vaner was born in San Angelo, Texas on June 11, 1948 to Lera Bess and Vaner Addison Smith. He graduated from Lamar University in 1971 with a degree in Marketing. He married the love of his life, Ann, in 1973. He worked in medical sales for over 45 years, loved working with emergency room doctors and nurses, and served on multiple committees and boards for the state and national Emergency Nurses Association. As a sales manager for orthopedic companies, he was able to travel the world. He loved to play golf and referee soccer games. He never met a stranger.
He served at church as a Lay Pastor and Altar Minister, hosted a small group and was active in the Dallas Emmaus community for many years.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Ann, daughter Amy Caster (Landry) of Fort Worth, Texas, and son Wesley Smith (Linda) of Coppell, Texas. His four grandchildren – Joshua, Emmy, Kaelyn and Kensley – were the light of his life. He is also survived by sister Suzy Juncker, sister Laura Rech (Mark) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is being planned for Fall 2021. Memorials can be made in Vaner’s name to the Texas Emergency Nurses Association (TxENA) scholarship fund ( send to: Treasurer - Texas ENA, 5412 Siltstone Loop, Killeen, Texas 76543).
