*Obituary
Jimmie Lee Jackson of Fort Worth passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, August 18th, at the age of 75.
Jimmie is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Ann Jackson, sisters Jeanine Jackson, Jean Coleman, and Earline Shivers, and son Gary Cantrell. Jimmie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Loretta Jackson, sister Jackie Jackson, and children Stephen Cantrell, Terry Traffanstedt and wife Patricia, Tracy Carlson, Jessica Wesley, William Kopp and wife Kristen, and Greg Jackson. He is also survived by his granddaughter Bela Jackson, extended family and friends.
Jimmie was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 8, 1945. He threw papers at 14 to buy his first car and spent his life as an avid admirer of classic cars. His family enjoyed his knack for being able to tell the year, make, and model of a car from just one glance at an oncoming bumper. Jimmie collected die-cast model cars and enjoyed grilling in the backyard, playing with his dogs, drinking Ovaltine, and above all, spending time with his family.
As a retired Sergeant for the Tarrant County Hospital Police, Jimmie, a born leader, enjoyed supporting his officers, helping others, and making his co-workers laugh. He'd never admit it, but he was usually the most likely to get up to playful mischief. Sitting around a card table and telling stories about his adventures with his fellow officers was one of his favorite ways to spend a Friday night.
Jimmie was a fiercely loyal man, who would do anything for the people he loved. He brought playfulness and laughter to his friends and family. He was an excellent judge of character and gave insightful advice to anyone who needed it. He will be unimaginably missed by those who knew him best.
A private memorial will be held by immediate family in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jimmie’s name to vitascommunityconnections.org
