Richard Lawrence Hopper, 76, went home to be with the Lord on March 17, 2022.
Richard was born in San Angelo, TX on January 20, 1946, to Doris Nell Hopper and Richard Samuel. Hopper. He attended Monterey High School where he graduated in 1964. Richard attended Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Administration. He served in the Air Force in England during the Vietnam War.
A longtime member of Christ Fellowship in McKinney, TX, Richard served as an usher for many years until he became disabled. His plan always was to be able to serve as an usher again. He loved being involved in his Life Group and Friday Men’s Group. In the last few years of his life, Richard courageously battled health complications with endless patience for his challenges. Richard’s love for God allowed him to manage all his health problems with confidence, determination, and humor. His strength of character was shown in his positivity, kindness, and caring personality.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Doris Nell Hopper and Richard Samuel Hopper. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Charlotte Hopper; son, Matthew (Stephanie) Hopper; son, Kyle (Heather) Hopper; son, Justin Hopper; and stepdaughter, Heather Adams. Richard was “Gramps” to his two grandsons. Richard is also survived by his sister Charlotte Null (Gene) and mother of his children, Kay Wilkins Hopper. He has many loving in-laws, nephews, aunts, cousins, extended family, and friends who will miss him very much.
Richard will forever be in our hearts and will be dearly missed and always remembered. We take comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord.
A service to celebrate Richard’s life will be held Friday, April 29th at 10:00 a.m. at Christ Fellowship Church, 2801 Orchid Dr., McKinney, TX 75072. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in Richard’s name.
