David Richard Pennington, age 57, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023 surrounded by loved ones.
David was born July 26, 1966 to Lois Gilbert and Richard Pennington in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania.
David graduated from Pearce High School in 1984 and went on to receive his B.A. in Communications/Journalism from Stephen F. Austin State University. David was a member of Sigma Tau Gamma Fraternity and played football while attending SFA.
He was a shining light and was always known to be positive, compassionate, and would do anything for a friend. He was lovingly nicknamed “Penman” by his friends. To know him was to love him and know true friendship. He was the epitome of a devoted family man.
David was in the commercial building industry for over 30 years and was employed by Prosoco as the Business Unit Leader for the Building Envelope Group. He was involved in many associations including the Air Barrier Association of America, SEAL, and SWR Institute. He was also a great advocate for the building enclosure industry.
In his spare time, he loved cooking, developed a love for Crossfit, and eventually became a Crossfit Instructor. He was a mentor and friend to many members, and loved his time with his Crossfit community.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Pennington. He is survived by his wife, Beth Wintter Pennington, and daughters, Morgan and Avery Pennington; Mother, Lois Gilbert; Sisters, Katherine Cays, Elizabeth Miller, Kelly Aquino and Vicky Cuthbert. He is also survived by many nieces & nephews.
David loved to make people laugh and spread joy to those around him. Everywhere he went, he was always the life of the party and a great friend to many. David’s greatest joy and deepest love were his daughters, who meant more to him than his own life.
He is loved deeply, and his memory carries on through the hearts and stories of those he touched in his life. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and strength. He will be deeply missed.
David was truly touched by the children at St. Jude based on his own battle with cancer.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
