Amelia Ruiz, 78, of Pflugerville, Texas was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven on August 15, 2015. She was born on December 5, 1936 in Hutto, Texas to Raul and Natividad Ruiz. During her youth, her family traveled to different parts of the country as migrant workers. She loved when they would travel to Wisconsin and Michigan. Some of her favorites memories were of picking cherries in Michigan. She loved to tell the story of how the family goat ate her hair while she slept and when she awoke she had bangs!
Amelia served the Lord faithfully and her heart belonged to her family. She prayed for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that they may also know and serve the Lord. Her last written prayer was that "God saves us all." She spent time with her family passing down what she loved. She loved to read her bible with Psalm 51 being her favorite scripture. She also loved to sew, cook and garden. She hand-made many special quilts for her children and grandchildren.
Amelia loved her brothers and sisters dearly. They made it a point to stay connected with one another throughout the years. She is survived by her brothers and sisters Solomon Ruiz, Raymond Ruiz, Lydia Calderon, Jose Ruiz, Margarita Alvarado and Amparo Ruiz. She is also survived by her children Sally and Hernan Uresti, Ruben and Irma Salazar, Mary and Virgil Delgado, Nancy and Ed Cooke and Enrique Jr. and Carla Salazar. Amelia has 19 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but her family is comforted in knowing she is in the arms of her Savior.
The family will greet guests at a visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 in the Capitol Room of Cook-Walden Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas. Services to honor and celebrate Amelia's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Calvary Chapel, 1601 West Pecan Street in Pflugerville, Texas.
