*Obituary
Maxine Minuette Bryan, 94, beloved sister, aunt, and friend, entered into the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, June 7, 2008. Born in Pocahontas, Iowa, Maxine was a resident of Austin since 1954. She held various jobs through her career and retired as an office manager from Joe Crow Real Estate after 17 years of service. She was an active member of Beta Sigma Phi for over 60 years. A dedicated member of the Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon and an Elder. She was a member of Genesis Presbyterian Church. Maxine, always devoted to helping others, was a tireless volunteer in her church and community and gave countless hours to many groups and causes. The word "no" seldom crossed her lips when she could give her time and talents. The greatest example of her compassion occurred when she assumed the guardianship of her youngest brother's teenage children two years after the untimely death of their parents. They will be forever grateful for her courage to take over the task, for the love and commitment she showed along the way, and for the wisdom she imparted throughout the years. Maxine was a strong, independent woman who freely shared her opinions. With her own unique style she loved life, laughter, people, travel, and new experiences. No cat was ever a stray at her house. She had many good friends and she will be greatly missed. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roger Bryan, Sr. and his wife Kathryn, her brother Carl Bryan, Jr. and his wife Fritzie. Left behind to cherish her memory are her nephews and nieces, Carl Bryan, III and wife Lee, Marsha Bryan, Barbara Kubricht and husband Chuk, Roger Bryan, Jr., Susan Keeney and husband George, and Laura Bridges and husband Andy; and their respective families. A memorial service celebrating Maxine's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, with Rev. Gail Snodgrass officiating. A reception will follow at Genesis Presbyterian Church, 1507 Wilshire Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith in Action Caregivers - NE Austin, 6100 Berkman Dr., Austin, TX 78723.
