Former area resident, Mattie Mae Kitchens, 93, died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held Monday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill McReynolds of Midland officiating, assisted by the Rev. Albert Lindley and the Rev. Bruce Parks, both of Lubbock.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Eastview Cemetery in Vernon. Interment will be under direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Kitchens was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Graham. She married the Rev. Rufus Kitchens on Nov. 15, 1924, in Vernon. They served at churches in Whiteface, Loraine, Lamesa and other churches in the Northwest Texas Conference. He preceded her in death in 1958.
She moved from Quanah to Seminole in 1959. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Seminole and an honorary member its board, and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two daughters. Christine Kitchens of Seminole and Mary McCormick of Lubbock two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
